Sales executives 'giving up holidays'

Almost half of top executives will not be going on summer holidays this year as they try to focus on work, according to one survey.

Executive advice website TheLadders.co.uk released the figures which showed that 43 per cent of those in top sales jobs would not be going abroad this summer.

Derek Pilcher, managing director of TheLadders.co.uk, said: "Having a strong work ethic is admirable in times of economic difficulty but with commercial pressure comes great stress."

He added that those in executive sales jobs need to be able to put some distance between themselves and the office as it can bring greater perspective.

The website asked more than 500 of the UK's executives about their summer holiday plans and found that 53 per cent did not intend to go away.
